Agartala, 06 August (HS). Tipra Motha chief Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma has demanded the Indian government to provide protection to Hindus who are victims of violence in Bangladesh.
He said through social media, “Attacks on minority Hindus and our indigenous people living in Bangladesh have increased. This is extremely worrying. I am sure that the Government of India will talk to whoever takes over the interim government. We should also take care that no provocative statement is made from our side. When leaders make such statements, the Northeast becomes unsafe. When the leaders of West Bengal make such provocative statements, our demand for a separate state will become even more intense.”
In another post, he said, “We should protect minorities from Bangladesh but not invite everyone to India. Bangladesh should not become another Pakistan.”
