Ranchi, 5 November (HS). Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar has said that the primary objective is that not even a single voter should be deprived of voting rights in the Assembly elections- 2024. To achieve this objective, collective efforts are required. He said that the Postal Department is playing an important role in ensuring that the Voter ID cards issued by the Commission reach the voters on time. Every day thousands of voter identity cards are being distributed by the postal department across the state. He said that even after registering the names of many voters in the voter list, their Voter ID card has not been made available.
He was holding a meeting with Postal Department officials at Nirvachan Sadan on Tuesday. He directed the officials of the Postal Department to keep the Postal Department open even during the upcoming holidays and the work of distribution of Voter ID should be done with full speed, so that all the voters registered in the voter list can get their Voter ID cards.
He said that those voters, whose name is in the voter list but have not yet received the Voter ID card, can call 1950 and contact their BLO or BLO supervisor to get information related to it. For this, the concerned Block Development Officer and Circle Officer can also be contacted. The distribution of Voter ID cards will be done by the concerned Block Development Officer and Circle Officer in coordination with the post office.
Kumar said that the senior officials of the Postal Department should direct the post masters of the entire state for this and ensure 100 percent distribution of all the Voter ID cards received by the Commission.
