Saharsa, 06 August (HS). On Tuesday, Postmaster General Eastern Region Manoj Kumar inspected the departmental building in Simri Bakhtiyarpur and gave necessary guidelines for improvement work. He said that he participated in the ongoing Dak Seva Aapke Dwar Dak Chaupal program and inquired about the benefits from the villagers. He said that continuous efforts are being made to open accounts of common people in post offices. All departmental officers have been given necessary guidelines for this.
He said that there should be at least 1250 saving account holders in rural post offices. Instructions have been given for this. He told that all rural people should have their saving accounts opened in post offices, every girl's account should be opened under Sukanya Samridhi Yojna being run for girls, instructions have been given to open accounts of all students in post offices. He said that an insurance scheme is running in the post office which has high profits in low premium. Common people can be greatly benefited by this. Everyone should take advantage of the insurance running in the post office.
He said that now the money deposited in the post office can be withdrawn from any corner of the country. In case the account number is not known, upto Rs. 10,000 can be withdrawn through thumb impression. It is known that in connection with the departmental investigation, Postmaster General Eastern Region Manoj Kumar reached Saharsa on Monday on a two-day visit. Where he went to the main post office and did a thorough inspection of the departmental works. Also, in connection with the CBI investigation going on in the case of embezzlement of more than two crore rupees in Saharsa Postal Division, he visited the Navhatta Post Office and inspected it. He said that here the action taken so far in the embezzlement of Rs. 97 lakh was investigated.
He said that delay in investigation increases the morale of such employees. In such a situation, immediate investigation always keeps the officers and employees in fear. In the past, postal officers and employees had embezzled an amount of about three and a half crores including Saharsa Postal Division and post offices of Supaul district. In which an amount of two crore one lakh 58 thousand was embezzled in Saharsa Postal Division. The investigation of which was handed over to CBI. In which 17 officers and employees were suspended with immediate effect from Saharsa Postal Division.
During the investigation, the two main accused, branch postmaster Rajesh Kumar and postal assistant were dismissed. While the CBI has so far filed a chargesheet against 11 officers and employees. However, the suspended employees have also been dismissed. Those who were working on financial transaction posts in various post offices of the district. Postal Superintendent Manoj Kumar and others were present on this occasion.
