Kolkata, August 07 (HS). Most of the districts of West Bengal are likely to receive heavy rains in the next few days.

The Meteorological Department said that this rain will occur due to the cyclonic circulation formed in the Ganga Valley region, which will turn into a low pressure area near Jharkhand and North Odisha.

The weather department on Wednesday warned that heavy to very heavy rains in the sub-Himalayan districts of Darjeeling and Kalimpong could trigger landslides.

According to the Meteorological Department, the cyclonic circulation over the Ganges Valley region and near Jharkhand and North Odisha will turn into a low pressure area by Thursday. Due to this low pressure area, heavy to very heavy rains are expected in Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar and Alipurduar districts till August 9, where the southwest monsoon is active.

The Meteorological Department said that light to moderate rain is likely at most places in South Bengal till August 13, while heavy rain may also occur at some places.
