Polyhouses become a means of increasing the income of farmers

Gopeshwar, 02 August (HS). The polyhouses established by the Horticulture Department in Chamoli district have become a means of increasing the income of the farmers. Till date, 257 farmers have been benefited by the scheme in the year 2023-24 by the department in the district. In such a situation, the farmers are strengthening their economy by producing vegetables and flowers in the polyhouse.

Chamoli's senior horticulture inspector DP Dangwal said that in the year 2023-24, the department received an amount of one crore 60 lakh from the district plan head for setting up polyhouses. Under which the department benefited 257 farmers of the district with the scheme at 90 percent subsidy. Under the scheme, the department has set up polyhouses in Koteshwar, Bandhra, Merg, Baragaon, Tapovan, Karchi, Bairagana, Dewar-Khadora, Siroli, Uttaron, Tharali, Kurad, Talwari State, Sunaun Malla, Nauti and Gauchar along with other villages. In which farmers are earning good income by cultivating off-season vegetables as well as flowers.

Neeraj Bhatt, a farmer of Rouli Gwad in Chamoli, said that under the scheme run by the Horticulture Department, I set up a polyhouse and started producing vegetables and flowers. Due to which I am now getting an additional income of 50 to 70 thousand rupees every year.

Koteshwar farmer Dheer Singh said that with the help of the Horticulture Department, I have set up a polyhouse near my house in which I am producing lilies. I am easily earning an income of 40 to 50 thousand from its marketing.
