Pollution situation worsens in Delhi-NCR, AQI crosses 500 in many areas

People’s problems have increased due to air pollution in Delhi-NCR. Here the Air Quality Index (AQI) has reached a very dangerous level. The biggest problem is in Noida, Ghaziabad and Gurugram. Here also on Tuesday (19 November 2024) the AQI crossed AQI 500 at most of the stations which is more than severe. Earlier on Monday also the AQI level in these cities was above 500.

Schools ordered to conduct online classes

The Union Health Secretary on Monday issued guidelines for states and union territories regarding air pollution. In view of increasing pollution, Delhi University has decided to stop offline classes till 23rd November and Jawaharlal Nehru University has decided to start online classes till 22nd November. Apart from this, schools have also been closed in Delhi-NCR. Schools have been ordered to conduct online classes.

Due to pollution, smog has spread in many parts of Delhi. Many flights have been affected due to low visibility. In view of the increasing pollution, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has implemented the fourth phase of the revised Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) in Delhi-NCR. Besides this, schools up to class 9 have been asked to conduct online classes and masks have been made mandatory for children up to classes 10-12. Besides, many things like construction work, diesel generators have also been banned.
