Polling worker took selfie with Union Minister at the booth went viral, DM ordered investigation

Hamirpur, 21 May (HS). Seeing Union Minister of State Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, who had come to vote inside a booth in Hamirpur city during the voting on Lok Sabha-47 seat, the polling worker not only got up from his chair and greeted her but also took a selfie with the minister on his mobile phone. The picture of the polling worker with the minister is becoming increasingly viral on social media on Tuesday. Taking cognizance of this, the DM has ordered an investigation into the entire matter.

The District Election Officer had made elaborate arrangements to conduct the fifth phase for Hamirpur-Mahoba-Tindwari parliamentary seat here on Monday amid tight security. Before the voting, it was clearly explained in the training to the polling personnel and presiding officers that they should not be negligent towards their responsibilities while voting inside the booth.

The Election Commission also had instructions that no dignitary should be welcomed during voting, but here in a polling center in Hamirpur city, a polling worker showed great carelessness during voting. Administration officials are surprised about this.

Union Minister of State Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti had come here to cast her vote at booth-7 in Vidyamandir Inter College, Hamirpur Nagar. Hamirpur Municipality Chairman Kuldeep Nishad and others were also present with him. While casting his vote, a polling worker got up from his chair and first greeted the minister and then took a selfie with the minister on his mobile phone. The polling personnel took photographs twice with the Union Minister of State inside the booth. After the completion of voting, now the picture of the polling worker with the minister is becoming increasingly viral on social media, seeing which the common people are taking a jibe. ADM SS Tiwari said that the personnel deployed in the polling booth are being identified.
