Politics intensifies over changing the color of Doordarshan's logo, opposition calls this step completely illegal – News India Live

New Delhi: Politics has erupted over Doordarshan changing the color of its DD News channel's logo from red to orange. While the opposition has accused the government of insulting the people and termed this step as completely illegal, the BJP says that the opposition is a victim of misunderstanding.

Actually, last Tuesday DD News had launched its new logo. Announcing the change, DD News posted a video on X with the new logo and wrote, 'While the values remain the same, we are now available in a new avatar. Get ready for a news journey like never seen before…Enjoy the all new DD News. We dare say this: accuracy over speed, facts over claims and truth over sensationalism. If it is on DD News, then it is true.

On Saturday, Trinamool Congress supremo and Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee said in a post on Twitter, 'I am surprised that Bhagvekaran has suddenly changed the color of our Doordarshan logo, especially when the Lok Sabha elections are going on. This is absolutely illegal. This reflects the pro-BJP perception of the National Public Broadcaster. On this, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur sarcastically said on Banerjee, Mamata's love for 'saffron' is 'obvious'. This change is a 'homecoming' as the saffron logo was tested in 1982.

BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya said that color TV came to India in 1982 and Doordarshan became the national broadcaster in the same year. Doordarshan had tested saffron color in 1982 itself. So don't be surprised and know who turned it blue? It's nothing but a homecoming for the national broadcaster. Meanwhile, Malviya also shared a clip of an old Doordarshan promo on X.

At the same time, former CEO of Prasar Bharati and current Trinamool Congress MP Jawahar Sarkar said that saffronizing the channel's logo just before the Lok Sabha elections is completely wrong. This is no longer Prasar Bharati, but Prachar Bharati. Prasar Bharati CEO Gaurav Dwivedi said, 'It is orange color and this color was used to make the graphics of the channel attractive. Not just the logo, the channel has also upgraded its look with new lighting and equipment.
