Politics heats up on the report of decreasing Hindu population, Priyanka Gandhi said – 'BJP's issue is useless'

Amidst the Lok Sabha elections, a new report of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Economic Advisory Council (EAC-PM) has come out. According to the report, the population of Hindus in India has declined by about 8 percent since 1950. On the other hand, the graph of Muslim population has increased rapidly by 43 percent. Political turmoil has started on this issue. BJP alleges that all this is the result of Muslim appeasement policies. At the same time, Congress says that the issues of unemployment, farmers and women's safety should be discussed.

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said, 'We should talk on those issues which are related to people's lives. Issues like unemployment, farmers, women's safety should be discussed. BJP people create issues as per their own, that is why they keep speaking. These are not the issues.

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Vijay Sinha said, 'This issue will be reviewed after the elections. We will not allow appeasement politics. Now we will satisfy the children of Mother India. Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan said, 'If this has happened then it is a matter of concern. Let us move forward together in inclusive development. This should be studied.

What was claimed in the report?

According to the report of the Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council (EAC-PM), the population of Hindus in the country has declined by about 8 percent. Whereas in comparison to 1950, the minority population has increased by 43.15 percent till 2015. In 1950, Muslims constituted 9.84 percent of the population. In 2015, Muslim population increased to 14.09 percent. However, the numbers of Jains and Parsis have declined in the meantime. There has been a 5.38% increase among Christians, 6.58% among Sikhs and a slight increase among Buddhists.
