Jaipur, July 29 (HS). A case of Kanwariyas being beaten up by a policeman has come to light in Sambhar police station area of Jaipur rural. According to the information, after this incident, angry Kanwariyas protested in the police station and demanded action against the guilty police. On receiving the information about the ruckus, Jaipur Rural Superintendent of Police and local people reached the spot. The matter was settled after persuasion. Jaipur Rural Superintendent of Police Shantanu Kumar has suspended the constable.
According to the information, 50 people carrying Kanwar from Devyani in Sambhar were going to Sanwarda-Shivaniya dancing and singing to the tune of DJ. Near Shivania, the police personnel stopped the DJ and forced it to shut down. They abused the Kanwariyas and broke the DJ. They brought it to the police station. After this, the Kanwariyas also reached the police station. The policemen and Kanwariyas were talking at the police station. Meanwhile, the constable posted at the police station made a video of the Kanwariyas and said that an FIR will be registered against all of them. The Kanwariyas calmed down after hearing this and started making the video. Meanwhile, a constable Khem Chand started fighting with the Kanwariyas. Due to the sudden scuffle, the Kanwariyas also started beating the policeman.
The kanwadis have alleged that the constable had beaten them after drinking alcohol. The policemen chased him away from the spot. The angry kanwadis started protesting at the police station demanding action.
Jaipur Rural Superintendent of Police Shantanu Kumar said that on Sunday late night, the policeman was talking to the Kanwariyas in the police station. During this time, constable Khemchand posted in the police station started beating the Kanwariyas present there. After the video of the incident surfaced, the constable was immediately suspended. Additional Superintendent of Police Braj Mohan has been sent to the spot to investigate the incident. He will submit the investigation report in three days. Action will be taken on this.
