Police stopped Suvendu Adhikari who was going to Sandeshkhali on the permission of High Court

After getting conditional permission from the Calcutta High Court, Leader of Opposition in the Bengal Assembly and BJP MLA Suvendu Adhikari left for restive Sandeshkhali in North 24 Parganas district on Tuesday morning. Many other BJP leaders including MLA Agnimitra Pal have also come along with Suvendu. However, he and other leaders were stopped by the police from leaving the message.

Police stopped Suvendu under threat. Suvendu says that Mamata government is not even following the instructions of the High Court. The state government has approached the division bench challenging the direction of the single bench of the High Court. Suvendu was going to Sandeshkhali to find out the ground situation by meeting local people and women who were victims of sexual exploitation and abuse. Apart from this, BJP has demanded an NIA investigation into the Sandeshkhali incident.

Suvendu approached the High Court

All of them left Kolkata at around 9 in the morning amid tight security. Suvendu will meet the women and local people who are victims of sexual exploitation and abuse in Sandeshkhali and take stock of the ground situation. It is learned that Suvendu approached the Calcutta High Court for the second time last week after the police stopped him from leaving Sandeshkhali.

While giving the verdict on his petition on Monday, the court gave him conditional permission to leave the message with the security personnel. The court has also directed that BJP leaders will not give any inflammatory speech during the Sandeshkhali tour. They have also been directed not to indulge in any illegal activity during their stay in Sandeshkhali.
