Police stopped people going to Mahapanchayat at Dasnadevi temple

Crowds of people started arriving at the Mahapanchayat of 36 communities from Sunday morning following the controversy arising out of the remarks made by Mahant Yati Narasimhanand of Ghaziabad's Dasnadevi temple about Prophet Muhammad. The police stopped them before they could go to the temple.

A large number of people kept going back while some people remained adamant on going to the Mahapanchayat and the police took them into custody. At one time, when a crowd of more than 400 people gathered to go to the Mahapanchayat, the police even resorted to lathi charge. His supporters allege that Yeti Narasimhanand has disappeared while the police has denied this allegation. Nandkishore Gurjar and Hindu organizations have given Ghaziabad Police a week's time to fulfill their demands. The temple administrators sought permission from the police to organize the Maha Panchayat but the police refused to give permission. After the announcement of the Mahapanchayat, the police came into alert mode and Section 163 was imposed in the areas around the temple. Convoys of district police and paramilitary forces were seen blocking all roads leading to the Dasnadevi temple. On September 29, Yeti Narasimhanand had made controversial remarks about Prophet Muhammad in an event organized in Lohianagar, Ghaziabad and asked not to burn the effigies of Ravana. , Kumbhakarna and Meghnad on Dussehra.
