Police investigation of foreign nationals working in Bollywood without proper work permit

Mumbai: Police have become active after several foreign nationals were found doing various jobs in Bollywood films without proper work permit. Mumbai Police has started an investigation after such foreigners were found on the sets of different films. A police source said, 'We went to a film set and found that foreigners with tourist visas were working there. We are investigating the matter and will be able to give more information after the investigation is completed.'

The Federation of Western India Employees (FWICE) Ltd has written to its members that only foreigners with proper work permits should be allowed to work in the film and TV industry. According to the federation, 'Only foreigners with work permits are allowed to work in the film industry, what kind of problem will arise if something suddenly happens to a foreigner working on the set without a work permit? The entire film industry will be held responsible.'

We requested the Film Producers Association to provide a list of foreigners working on their sets.

In a letter to the filmmakers' associations, FWICE said, “We request you to instruct your members not to employ any foreigner without proper work visa and other required documents as per government norms. It is mandatory for all of us Indian citizens to follow this to ensure that no accident takes place on the sets. Any such illegal activity can cause great harm to our country and our crew members.”
