News India Live, Digital Desk: Haridevpur Rape Case: The Kolkata Police has got a big success in the gangrape case that shook the city. A few days after the incident, the police have arrested one of the main accused, while raids are being conducted in search of another. The arrest was made from Burdwan station, which is expected to speed up the investigation of the case.
What is the whole matter?
This shameful incident took place last week on Friday (September 5), when a 20 -year -old girl was called to a party on the pretext of her birthday. The woman alleges that one of her acquaintances, Chandan Malik, took her with her for the party. The party was kept at the rented house of Chandan’s friend, Debangshu Biswas (aka Deep), which is in Toliganj area of the city.
According to the victim, when she reached there, she did not see any party. It is alleged that both the youths present there gang -raped her. The victim somehow escaped from there the next morning (6 September) and reached her family directly. After this, the family showed courage and lodged a complaint at Haridevpur police station.
How was the arrest?
Ever since the complaint was filed, both the accused, Chandan Malik and Debangshu Biswas, were absconding. Kolkata Police immediately formed a team for investigation and started searching for the accused.
During its investigation, the police detected technical surveillance and the help of informants to hide in Burdwan. Acting on this information, the police arrested Chandan Malik, the main accused from Burdwan station late on Tuesday night.
Search for another accused intensified
After the arrest of one of the accused, now the entire focus of the police is on the other accused Debangshu Biswas. Many police teams are looking for him. There are also reports that the second accused may be a government employee, which the police is confirming. Officials say that they will soon arrest him too.
The victim and her family hopes for justice from this arrest. At the same time, the police say that they will go to the bottom of the case and get both the accused the harshest punishment.
