Varanasi, 21 November (HS). On Thursday, the second day of the Shiv Mahapuran Katha going on at the Satua Baba Ashram in Ramnagar Domri on the other side of the Ganga, Police Commissioner Mohit Aggarwal reached the Katha site along with police officers. He inspected the entire story site, exits and traffic routes and gave directions to the ashram management along with the police officers regarding security arrangements.
The Police Commissioner also checked the boats coming to the story site from the Ganga river route. He instructed the sailors not to accommodate devotees beyond their capacity and without life jackets. He said that action will be taken against boat operators who disobey the instructions. He said that the boatman should not charge more fare from the devotees than the prescribed rate.
The Police Commissioner directed police personnel to be present at Rajghat bridge, Padav, Bhadaun Chungi since morning. He asked the police personnel to keep a rope at the story site. So that the movement of devotees is done in a disciplined manner. He asked the police officers and employees to maintain friendly behavior with the devotees. Asked to keep a special watch on the criminal elements at the Katha site, especially on the women gangs who steal women’s chains. Besides, emphasis was laid on maintaining smooth traffic system and in view of huge crowd of devotees, traffic diversion on main roads and parking of vehicles at designated parking places only. For this, he asked the organizing committee to establish coordination and take help of volunteers for crowd management at the Katha venue. During this, Additional Police Commissioner Law and Order S. Channappa, Deputy Commissioner of Police Kashi Zone Gaurav Banshwal, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime against Women) Mamta Rani Chaudhary, Chief Fire Officer etc. were also present.
