Rishikesh, 06 November (Hindustan Reporter). In the murder case, the accused, who was absconding for two years after taking parole from jail, was caught by the police from Delhi on Wednesday. The accused had shot and killed a young man in the year 2019 and was serving life imprisonment in Haridwar jail. He came out of the High Court on parole in the year 2022 and was absconding since then. SSP Ajay Singh has announced to reward the arresting police team with a reward of Rs 5,000.
Rishikesh Kotwali in-charge Inspector Rajendra Kholia told that in the year 2019, the accused Rajiv had shot and killed a person named Rinku Kumar in the Haat Bazaar of IDPL Rishikesh. The police arrested him with a pistol and cartridges. In relation to the incident, the police filed a charge sheet against the accused in the court and the court found him guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment. After this, the accused was lodged in Haridwar jail, who came out of jail in December 2022 after taking parole from Nainital High Court. After the expiry of parole, the accused absconded without going back to jail. The court had issued arrest warrants against him.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dehradun formed a team by giving necessary instructions to the SOG in-charge to arrest the absconding accused. The formed police team searched the old records of the accused and collected information about his relatives and friends and got information that the accused Rajiv is working in a shop in Delhi. On this a team was immediately sent to Delhi. As soon as the police team got information about the accused, he was arrested from Delhi Shahdara.
