Jalandhar News: During a blockade in Jalandhar late Sunday night, the City Police arrested a person with foreign currency worth about Rs 2 crore. The accused did not have any proof of the said money, due to which the police have registered a case against the accused. All the cash recovered was in foreign currency.
The accused was identified as Punit Sood alias Gandhi, resident of Hoshiarpur
The Commissionerate Police remained engaged in investigation and interrogation till late night. The arrested accused has been identified as Punit Sood alias Gandhi, resident of Hoshiarpur. Due to which the police has also recovered the Creta car. During the blockade near Santnagar, the police stopped a black Creta car on suspicion and searched it, a huge amount of cash was recovered from it. Till late night the accused could not show any concrete documents to the police, now the police is investigating the matter further.
The accused is being interrogated
According to the information received, Jalandhar City Police is interrogating the accused at New Baradari police station. A case was registered against the accused late night and he was arrested the same day. According to the information received, the market value of foreign currency recovered from the said accused is around Rs 2 crore. However, CP Swapan Sharma has denied any such case.
