BRUSSELS: Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia on Wednesday asked the European Union to build a defense line along the Baltic states' borders with Russia and Belarus so that those countries as well as the European Union are safe. They should be protected from further military actions by both countries. The letter from the four countries is to be discussed at the EU summit scheduled for today in Brussels. The countries have also demanded military and financial support from the EU.
In this letter, the four countries have urged to protect the group of 450 million people from military and hybrid threats from Russia and Belarus.
Hybrid threats are a combination of military and non-military threats that include disinformation, sabotage, economic pressure, and the movement of displaced people across their borders.
In connection with this request, European politicians have estimated that at least $2.5 billion is needed for such a defence line.
Greece and Poland also requested that Israel build an Aryan-Dome-like defense system, supported by an air-defense system.
