There is a great realization that climate change is not just a thing of the future. The impact of climate change is being felt here and now.” Meanwhile, PM Modi said the time for action has come. Energy transformation and sustainability have become central in the global policy debate. India is the first of the G20 countries to meet the 2030 goals. We have increased non-fossil fuel capacity by about 300% in this period, but we are not resting on our achievements.

PM Modi said, “We are focusing on strengthening existing solutions. We are also focusing on new and innovative areas. This is where green hydrogen comes into the picture. Green hydrogen is a promising addition to the world's energy landscape that can help decarbonise industries.” India has launched a National Green Hydrogen Mission in 2023 for refineries, steel, heavy-duty transportation and many other renewable energy. We want to make India a global hub for green hydrogen production, use and export.

Partnerships are being formed between industry and academia

PM Modi said that the National Green Hydrogen Mission is promoting innovation, infrastructure, industry and investment. We are investing in advanced research and development. Partnerships are being formed between industry and academia. Startups and entrepreneurs working in this sector are being encouraged. There is also a huge potential for the development of a green employment ecosystem. To enable this, we are also working on skill development for our youth in this sector. Climate change and energy transition are global concerns. Our responses should also be global. International partnerships are important to maximize the impact of green hydrogen on decarbonization. “Increasing productivity, reducing costs and building infrastructure can happen faster through collaboration.”
