PM Narendra Modi will not attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not be able to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit to be held in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, the largest country in Central Asia, on July 3-4, because the Parliament session is scheduled. It will end on July 3. And the Prime Minister's presence is considered necessary on the last day of the session.

After becoming Prime Minister for the third consecutive time, he was expected to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping and Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif at this summit, besides holding bilateral talks with Russian President Putin. But given the state of relations with both countries, the possibility of Modi meeting them hardly seems realistic. However, India has already said that it considers this process very important for peace, stability and economic development of the region.

Although India is a full member of the SCO, it has been excluded because China's Belt and Road Initiative has been accepted by all SCO countries, except India which has not supported it.

India has repeatedly said that the main objective of this organization can be to fight terrorism and every country should respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of other countries. Pakistan and China have no interest in this.
