The Prime Minister will interact with key leaders of the Christian community, including Cardinals, Bishops and prominent Church leaders. This information has been given by the Prime Minister’s Office. This will be the first time that a Prime Minister will attend such an event at the headquarters of the Catholic Church in India.
The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI) was established in 1944 and works closely with all Catholics across India. Earlier on Thursday, Prime Minister Modi attended the Christmas celebrations at the residence of Union Minister George Kurien in Delhi, where he was warmly welcomed and interacted with prominent members of the Christian community. While sharing the post on Instagram, PM Modi said, ‘Attended the Christmas function at the residence of Union Minister George Kurien. Also interacted with prominent members of the Christian community.
The Prime Minister was given a grand welcome at Kurien’s residence, where he was presented a bouquet of flowers. Celebrated annually on December 25, Christmas marks the birth of Jesus Christ and is celebrated religiously and culturally by billions of people around the world. On Christmas Eve, people across the country offer prayers at midnight. Churches have been decorated. People burst crackers while celebrating the festival.
