PM Modi said on Manipur violence, 'Stop adding fuel to the fire'

PM Modi said that the central government along with the state government is constantly making efforts to normalise the situation in Manipur. Those who are adding fuel to the fire of violence should now stop such politics.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the central government along with the state government is constantly making efforts to normalise the situation in Manipur. He appealed to everyone to rise above politics and cooperate in normalising the situation there. PM Modi also warned those who are 'adding fuel to the fire' to stop such activities.

More than 11,000 FIRs have been filed in violent incidents: PM

Responding to the discussion on the motion of thanks on the President's address in the Rajya Sabha, the Prime Minister said, “The government is constantly trying to normalize the situation in Manipur. More than 11,000 FIRs have been registered in all the incidents. Manipur is a small state, yet more than 500 people have been arrested there.” He said, “We also have to accept that incidents of violence in Manipur are constantly decreasing. This means that it is becoming possible to hope for peace and believe in peace.”

Like other states, schools and colleges will remain open in Manipur: PM

PM Modi said that today in most areas of Manipur, schools, colleges, offices and other institutions are opening like normal days. He said that just as examinations were conducted in other parts of the country, examinations were conducted in Manipur as well and children continued their development journey. PM said, “The central and state governments are constantly trying to create a harmonious path of peace by talking to everyone. Connecting small units, creating a fabric is a huge task and it is being done peacefully.”

“We also want everyone’s cooperation.”

The Prime Minister said, “A similar sequence happened in Manipur in 1993 and it was so intense and widespread that it continued for five consecutive years. We have to understand this entire history and try to improve the situation very wisely.” He said, “We want cooperation from everyone. We are the ones who want to cooperate in this matter. We are making all efforts to maintain normalcy and bring peace.

PM Modi appealed to all political parties

The PM appealed to all political parties and said, “We all should rise above politics and cooperate in normalizing the situation there. This is the duty of all of us.” He said, “I warn all those elements who are trying to add fuel to the fire in Manipur to stop these activities. A time will come when Manipur itself will reject them.”
