PM Modi leaves for Brunei and Singapore visit | News India

New Delhi, September 03 (HS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for a three-day visit to Brunei and Singapore sometime earlier this morning.

Before departing, Prime Minister Modi said that he was confident that his visit would further strengthen India's partnership with Brunei, Singapore and the larger ASEAN region.

From Brunei, PM Modi will travel to Singapore on September 4. Before leaving for Brunei and Singapore, PM Modi termed India as an important partner in India's 'Act East' policy and its vision for the Indo-Pacific and said that his visit will strengthen India's partnership with both the countries as well as the larger ASEAN region.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “We are celebrating 40 years of our diplomatic relations. I look forward to my meetings with Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and other members of the royal family to take our historic ties to new heights.” He said, “I look forward to the opportunity to meet President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong and retired Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong.”

Prime Minister Modi will arrive at Brunei International Airport at 5 pm. He will be formally welcomed here. He will reach the hotel 30 minutes later. He will inaugurate the new chancery of the Indian High Commission at 7:50 pm. He will visit the Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque at 8:15 pm.
