European Union Ambassador to India Herve Delphin on Friday said that August 23 is a historic date. He said that the day is the official National Flag Day of Ukraine which coincides with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Ukraine.
PM Modi reached Ukraine's capital Kyiv
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in the capital Kyiv on Friday on a visit to the war-torn country Ukraine. This is the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Ukraine since the country's independence in 1991. Prime Minister Modi was welcomed at the Kyiv Central Station and then left for the Hyatt Hotel for preliminary programs. Prime Minister Modi was welcomed by Indian tourists at the hotel.

“This 23 August is a historic date, as it is the National Flag Day of Ukraine and coincides with the historic visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Kyiv,” Delfin said on X. She further wrote that the EU will continue to support the Ukrainian nation and state in its defence against Russian aggression, Ukraine will win!
Zelensky invited PM Modi
PM Modi has visited Ukraine at the invitation of President Zelensky. The Prime Minister had visited Russia about six weeks before his Kiev visit. His visit to Russia was criticized by the US and some Western allies.
10 hours journey by train
The Prime Minister has reached Ukraine in the second and final leg of his two-nation visit. Prime Minister Modi has reached Kiev after a journey of about 10 hours from Poland in the 'Rail Force One' train.
Talked to the Prime Minister of Poland
After talks with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, PM Modi on Thursday said that the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and West Asia is a matter of concern. He further said that 'dialogue and diplomacy' is the only way to restore peace.
