A major tragedy struck off the coast of Mumbai in Maharashtra on Wednesday when a naval ship collided with a tourist boat, killing 13 people. While other 99 people have been saved. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over this tragedy.

The families of the deceased will get financial assistance
PM Modi has announced to give Rs 2 lakh each from PMNRF to the families of those killed in the boat accident in Mumbai and Rs 50,000 to the injured. On the other hand, Maharashtra Chief Minister Fadnavis has announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the families of those who died in the boat accident. He said that this amount will be given from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. He said that the incident will be thoroughly investigated. Along with the Navy, the police will also investigate the matter.

In a statement issued by the Navy, it has been said that one of our ships was going for engine testing, but then at 4 pm it lost control and collided with the Neelkamal boat near Karanja. The boat was taking passengers from the Gateway of India to the popular tourist destination Elephanta Island. The Navy said that we immediately started the rescue operation with the help of Coast Guard and Marine Police. In which the help of four helicopters of the Navy, 11 ships, one boat of the Coast Guard and three boats of the Marine Police was taken.
