New Delhi, August 1 (HS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Vietnamese counterpart Pham Minh Chinh held a bilateral meeting at Hyderabad House in Delhi on Thursday. They held extensive discussions to further expand the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
Chinna arrived in Delhi on Tuesday night on a three-day visit. The purpose of his visit is to further expand the comprehensive strategic relations between the two countries.
Earlier today, Vietnam's Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh was accorded a ceremonial welcome at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan. Later, he went to Raj Ghat and paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.
“A grand welcome to a valued partner. Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the Prime Minister of Vietnam, Pham Minh Chinh, at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan. Vietnam is a key pillar of India's Act East policy and Indo-Pacific vision,” the spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs posted on Twitter.
It is noteworthy that at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vietnam's Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh is in New Delhi on a state visit to India from 30 July to 01 August. Prime Minister Chinh is also scheduled to meet President Draupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar.
According to the ministry, India and Vietnam have centuries-old historical and civilisational ties, which were elevated to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership during the Prime Minister's visit to Vietnam in September 2016. India considers Vietnam a key pillar of its Act East policy and an important partner in its Indo-Pacific vision.
