After the recently held Lok Sabha elections, PM Modi has come to power for the third consecutive time. Modi and his cabinet took oath on June 9. PM Modi has been elected a member of Varanasi Lok Sabha for the third time. As soon as the proceedings of the House began, Modi first took oath as the leader of the House. Mehtab took oath as a member of the House and Protem Speaker at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Earlier, PM Modi's address took place.

PM Modi said that the people of the country expect the opposition to maintain the dignity of Parliament and not indulge in “hypocrisy, drama, sloganeering and disruption”. He said that the country needs a good and responsible opposition. Addressing the media on the first day of the first session of the 18th Lok Sabha, Modi also invited all the newly elected MPs to use this session in public interest. He said, “The country has great expectations from all MPs. I would appeal to all MPs to use this opportunity for public interest and take every possible step in public interest.
