The central government launches various schemes to provide relief to farmers, including initiatives to provide loans to farmers at concessional interest rates and other schemes aimed at providing economic assistance. One such scheme is PM Kisan Yojana, the next installment of which lakhs of farmers across the country are eagerly waiting. Till now 15 installments of this scheme have been sent directly to the bank accounts of the farmers. However, there is confusion among many farmers regarding the scheme, including the question whether two brothers from the same family can avail of it.
Only one application per family
In the last 15 installments, there have been several cases where different members of the same family applied for PM Kisan Yojana and the funds were deposited in their accounts, although this is against the rules. The Agriculture Department is now taking recovery action against such farmers. Only one application can be submitted per family, and violating this rule may result in legal consequences.
How can two brothers take advantage?
If two brothers live in the same family, only one of them can apply for PM Kisan Yojana. This means that only one member of the family can avail the benefits of this scheme. At the same time, if one brother lives separately with his family and does farming separately, then both the brothers can apply for this scheme, and the installment will be deposited in the accounts of both.
