Big relaxation given in eligibility rules: Now they will also get permanent house
Under the new survey, the Central Government has made major amendments in the eligibility criteria of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and has removed many old restrictions, so that more and more rural families can take advantage of it:

-
Increase in monthly income limit: The maximum limit of monthly income of the beneficiary family has been increased from ₹10,000 to ₹15,000 per month.

Agricultural land holders also get a chance: Farmer families having up to 5 acres of unirrigated or 2.5 acres of irrigated agricultural land will also now be considered eligible for a pucca house.
-
Additional assistance for landless and dilapidated houses: Beneficiaries who do not have land to build their houses will be given additional assistance of ₹1 lakh to purchase land. Apart from this, a provision of special financial assistance up to ₹ 80,000 has been made for the repair or reconstruction of old and extremely dilapidated houses.
Financial model and amount to be received by the beneficiary
Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Rural, direct financial assistance of ₹ 1.20 lakh is given in installments through DBT for construction of each house in the plain areas. Other than this:
-
Wages under MNREGA: During the construction of the house, the beneficiary is given 90 to 95 days of unskilled labor amount under the MGNREGS scheme.
-
Toilet Construction Grant: An additional amount of ₹12,000 is provided separately for toilet construction under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural).
-
Basic Facilities: Every new house is directly linked to the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (gas connection), Saubhagya Yojana (electricity connection) and Jal Jeevan Mission (tap water).
Other big announcements for farmers and rural women
During the event, the Union Minister also spoke on many other important issues related to rural economy and farmers’ empowerment:
-
PM Crop Insurance Scheme: In Bihar, emphasis was laid on the full implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana to compensate the farmers for the losses caused by natural disasters (flood, drought and hailstorm).
-
Establishment of ‘She-Marts’: Modern ‘She-Marts’ will be opened in every district of Bihar to provide a bigger market to local products prepared by rural self-help groups (SHGs) and ‘Jeevika Didis’.
-
Digital Farmer ID: To bring complete transparency in agricultural schemes, digital ‘Farmer ID’ of more than 53 lakh 83 thousand farmers has been created in Bihar so far.
Transparency and monitoring of application process
Under this scheme, allotment of all new houses is being done through ‘Awaas+’ app and modern geo-tagging technology, so that the role of middlemen can be completely eliminated and only genuine eligible beneficiaries get government assistance. The Central and State Governments are working together to complete the construction work expeditiously during this financial year.
