Gopeshwar, 23 September (HS). District Magistrate Chamoli Sandeep Tiwari reviewed the horticulture and agriculture department on Monday. During this, he instructed the departmental officers to prepare plans to strengthen the income of farmers. He also talked about preparing an action plan to promote mushroom production.
During the meeting, the District Magistrate gave instructions to develop Gairsain block as a mushroom route. He instructed the officers of the Horticulture Department to build huts in government gardens, select farmers and connect women self-help groups to the scheme for mushroom production. He also talked about setting up a mother block of kiwi in the vacant area of the departmental nursery. So that in future, kiwi saplings can be made available to the farmers of the district from the nursery at reasonable prices.
He also directed the officials of the Horticulture Department to get all the nurseries of the district mapped. To increase the income of farmers, he talked about planning the production of European vegetables in the district and selecting farmers, while he also directed the officials of the Agriculture Department to motivate farmers for group farming and prepare an action plan to increase the production of hill crops by selecting land and doing channel fencing.
On this occasion, Chief Development Officer Nandan Kumar, Chief Agriculture Officer JP Tiwari, Land Conservation Officer Rajesh Khetwal, Senior Horticulture Inspector BP Dangwal, Assistant Horticulture Inspector Raghuveer Singh Rana etc. were present.
