Pilgrimage to Hinglaj Mata Temple ends in Pakistan


Hinglaj, 28 April (Hindustan Reporter). The pilgrimage to Hinglaj temple in Pakistan ended on Sunday. According to organizers, more than one lakh Hindu devotees took part in the pilgrimage that began on Friday.

During the pilgrimage to Hinglaj Mata Temple situated on the top of a mountain, thousands of Hindu devotees climb hundreds of stairs to worship the Goddess. Hindus based in Pakistan go to visit the ancient temple in a three-day religious program of worship. It should be noted that 44 lakh Hindus live in Muslim-majority Pakistan, which is only 2.14 percent of the population. Hinglaj Mata Temple is one of the few Hindu religious places which attracts a large number of pilgrims every year. According to belief, Hinglaj Mata Temple is at the place where the remains of Mata Sati fell on earth.

Maharaj Gopal, the temple's senior-most priest, said it is the most sacred pilgrimage in Hinduism. Whoever visits the temple and worships during these three days becomes free from all sins.
