Petrol Price: Petrol and diesel are costlier by Rs 4 per liter in Mizoram, why did the government increase the price even without any increase in crude oil? | News India

Petrol-Diesel Price: There has been no significant increase in the price of petrol and diesel in Delhi after May 2022. But the Mizoram government has again increased the fuel rate by Rs 4 per liter after increasing VAT recently.

Petrol-Diesel Price Hike: Petrol and diesel prices in Delhi may have remained at the same level for a long time. But now the Mizoram government has increased the prices of both by Rs 4 per liter. The new prices have come into effect from the beginning of the month. A state minister gave this information. Mizoram Taxation Minister Dr. Vanlalthalana said that this increase in fuel prices has been done with the intention of raising funds for social infrastructure and road maintenance.

Did money increase in these two items?

He said, 'The government has imposed a new levy of Rs 2 per liter on both diesel and petrol for social infrastructure and service cess and Rs 2 per liter for road maintenance.' Vanlalthalana said that the new price has come into effect in the state from September 1. He said that this decision has been taken for the benefit of the people. Vanlalthalana said that despite the increase of Rs 4 per liter and the recent increase in VAT charges, the new rate of petrol and diesel is less than the price of the year 2021.

The Mizoram government recently issued a notification to increase VAT on petrol from 5.23% to 10% and on diesel from 16.36% to 18%. After increasing the additional tax, the current price of petrol in the capital Aizawl is Rs 99.24 per liter, while diesel is Rs 88.02 per liter. The minister said that this decision has been taken as per the recommendation of the state's resource mobilization committee. The concerned committee was tasked to find ways to increase revenue.

Rates have not increased in Delhi for two years

Earlier, the rate of petrol in the state was Rs 93.93 and diesel was being sold at Rs 82.62 per liter. In the capital Delhi, petrol and diesel have been at the same rate for the last two years. Here petrol is being sold at Rs 94.72 and diesel at Rs 87.62 per liter. Meanwhile, WTI crude remains at $ 69.60 per barrel and Brent crude at $ 73.10 per barrel.
