Petrol-Diesel Price Today: New rates of petrol-diesel released on 22nd October, know the price of your city from Lucknow to Delhi.

Amidst the ongoing fluctuations in crude oil prices in the international market, Indian Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs)—such as Indian Oil (IOCL), Bharat Petroleum (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum (HPCL)—have released the latest prices of petrol and diesel for today i.e. October 22. At the national level, government oil companies have kept fuel prices largely stable even today. However, due to differences in local sales tax i.e. Value Added Tax (VAT), freight charges and dealer commission levied in different states, the retail prices of petrol and diesel are being recorded differently in every state and city. If you are going to the petrol pump early in the morning to fill your car’s tank, then it is very important to know the latest rates in your city.

Petrol and diesel prices remained stable today in most of the districts of the state including Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. Due to no major change in VAT rates at the local level, consumers are getting fuel at the old rates only.

  • Lucknow: Petrol ₹ 101.86 per liter, diesel ₹ 95.36 per liter

  • Noida/Greater Noida: Petrol ₹ 101.96 per liter, diesel ₹ 95.44 per liter

  • Ghaziabad: Petrol ₹101.88 per liter, diesel ₹95.38 per liter

  • Varanasi: Petrol ₹102.40 per liter, diesel ₹95.85 per liter

  • Kanpur: Petrol ₹ 101.95 per liter, diesel ₹ 95.42 per liter

  • Prayagraj: Petrol ₹ 102.25 per liter, diesel ₹ 95.72 per liter

Due to different VAT slabs in the four major metros, there is a significant difference in prices. While VAT on petrol in Delhi is lower compared to other metros, fuel is being sold relatively more expensive in Mumbai and Kolkata.

City Petrol (₹ per liter) Diesel (₹ per liter)
New Delhi ₹102.12 ₹95.20
Mumbai ₹111.21 ₹97.83
Kolkata ₹113.51 ₹99.82
Chennai ₹107.76 ₹99.55
Bengaluru ₹111.68 ₹99.56
Hyderabad ₹116.15 ₹104.23
Chandigarh ₹101.54 ₹89.47

The ‘Dynamic Fuel Pricing’ system is in force in India since June 2017. Under this, the retail prices of petrol and diesel are reviewed by the oil companies every day at exactly 6:00 am on the basis of the foreign currency exchange rate (value of the rupee against the dollar) and the 15-day average international price of the global benchmark (Brent crude). When crude oil reaches the refinery, the base price, excise duty (excise duty) of the central government, VAT of the states and margin of petrol pump dealers are added to it. This is the reason that even a slight change in the global rates of crude oil directly impacts the country’s economy and the pockets of the general public.

If you want to know the exact rate of your nearest city or pump before going to the petrol pump, then oil companies have provided a very easy SMS facility for this:

  1. Indian Oil (IOCL): Write RSP in the message box of your mobile and this 9224992249 Send it to.

  2. Bharat Petroleum (BPCL): Write RSP in the message and this 9223112222 Send to.

  3. Hindustan Petroleum (HPCL): Type HPPRICE on mobile and type it 9222201122 Send it to.

As soon as the message is sent, an auto-reply SMS will come from the company within a few seconds, in which the latest rate of petrol and diesel applicable on that day in that dealer and city will be clearly written. Apart from this, prices can also be checked on the basis of real-time location through the official mobile apps of the respective companies (like IndianOil ONE of Indian Oil).
