Petition in High Court demanding safety of Sadhus and action against Chief Minister Mamata

Kolkata, May 22 (HS). Vishwa Hindu Parishad has approached the Calcutta High Court demanding protection of saints and sages. In its PIL, the Council has also requested the High Court to take legal action against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. A division bench of Chief Justice Shivagananam will hear the case.

VHP's eastern regional coordinator said on Wednesday that due to Chief Minister Banerjee's comments about Maharajas and monks in Bharat Sevashram, saints and sages are being attacked at various places. As a result, the monks of Bengal are in danger. His question, “Why is legal action not taken against the Chief Minister for this situation?”

Incidentally, recently in the meeting in Arambagh, Chief Minister Banerjee had raised questions on the role of saints and sages by taking the name of Bharat Sevashram and Ramakrishna Mission. Referring to Kartik Maharaj of Baharampur, Mamata also said, “Some monks and nuns are ruining the country by doing politics.”

There was a lot of uproar over this comment of the Chief Minister. However, the next day after the public meeting in Bishnupur, Mamata said, “I respect Bharat Sevashram or Ramakrishna Mission. I specifically mentioned Karthik Maharaj.”
