New Delhi, May 28 (HS). The Delhi High Court has dismissed the petition challenging the appointment of Ashwini Kumar as the administrator of the Delhi Waqf Board. Justice Subramaniam Prasad's bench ordered a fine of ten thousand rupees on the petitioner.
The court said that the petitioner has filed the petition only to get publicity. The petitioner has also said in the petition that he has not given any proper reason for cancelling the appointment of Ashwini Kumar as the administrator of the Waqf Board. The court said that nothing has been said in the petition that Ashwini Kumar is unfit for the post of administrator of the Waqf Board. The court said that apart from his failure to stop the demolition of Akhundhaji Mosque, not a single reason has been given in the petition as to why Ashwini Kumar is not eligible for the post of administrator of the Waqf Board.
The court ordered to impose a fine of ten thousand rupees on the petitioner and ordered to deposit the fine amount in the Armed Forces Battle Casualties Welfare Fund within four weeks. The petition was filed by Mehrauli resident Yamin Ali. It was said in the petition that the petitioner's mother was buried in the graveyard next to Akhunji Mosque, which is the property of Delhi Waqf Board. But the administrator of the Waqf Board failed to protect this mosque. In such a situation, he should be removed from the post of administrator of the Waqf Board.
Let us tell you that Akhundhaji Mosque was about seven hundred years old which was demolished by DDA on January 30.
