State Bank of India (SBI), the country’s largest public sector bank, has released the official notification (Advt. No. CRPD/SCO/2026-27/29) for the permanent recruitment of Assistant Manager – Engineer (Fire) under Specialist Cadre Officer (SCO). Through this recruitment process, a total of 17 posts will be appointed under Junior Management Grade Scale-I (JMGS-I). The most special thing about this vacancy is that the maximum age limit has been fixed at 40 years, due to which even those candidates who had crossed the age limit of general banking recruitment are getting a chance to get a permanent job in SBI.

The online application window for this recruitment in State Bank of India has opened from 4 November 2026. Eligible and interested candidates can submit their form through online mode by visiting the official website of SBI (sbi.bank.in/web/careers) till 25 November 2026.

According to the advertisement released by SBI, 17 posts of Assistant Manager – Engineer (Fire) include 16 regular and 1 backlog post. Talking about category wise, 11 posts have been reserved for unreserved (UR) category, 2 for SC (SC), 2 for ST (ST), 1 for OBC (OBC) and 1 for EWS (EWS).

To apply for this post, the minimum age of the candidates should be 21 years and maximum age should be 40 years, which will be calculated on the basis of the decisive date of 31 October 2026. Apart from this, applicants belonging to reserved categories will also be given relaxation in the maximum age limit as per rules.

On the educational qualification front, the candidate must have BE (Fire) degree from National Fire Service College (NFSC) Nagpur or 4 year BE/B.Tech degree in Safety & Fire Engineering / Fire Technology & Safety Engineering from a recognized university. Along with this, minimum 2 years work experience in the relevant field has been sought. Candidates who are graduate members of Institution of Fire Engineers or have done Divisional Officers Course from NFSC Nagpur must have 3 years of Station Officer or Fire Officer experience.

Final selection to the post of Assistant Manager in State Bank of India will be done on the basis of performance in online written test and personal interview. The written examination will likely be conducted in December 2026 or January 2027, followed by interviews in January/February 2027 and the final result will be declared in February 2027. 70% weightage will be given in written examination and 30% weightage will be given in interview.

Selected candidates will get an attractive basic pay scale of ₹48,480 – ₹85,920 under JMGS-I scale. Apart from the basic salary, dearness allowance (DA), house rent allowance (HRA), medical and other bank allowances will also be available, which makes the in-hand salary very good.
