Gujarati Dal Dhokli Recipe: The method of making Dal Dhokli is different in every house. Today I will tell you the recipe of making delicious Gujarati Dal Dhokli at home.
Gujarati Dal Dhokli Ingredients
- ½ cup urad dal (black lentils)
- 1 tablespoon peanuts
- 1 cup water
- ½ cup wheat flour
- 1 tsp gram flour
- ¼ tsp turmeric
- ½ tsp red chilli powder
- a pinch of asafoetida
- try pinching
- salt to taste
- 1 tablespoon oil
- For Dhokli – Red chili powder
- chopped tomatoes
- 1 green chilli chopped
- Ginger paste
- 1 tsp jaggery
- salt to taste
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon coriander leaves finely chopped
- For tempering – 1 tablespoon oil
- Rye
- Cumin
- 6-7 fenugreek seeds
- 1 clove
- cinnamon
- 1 dried red chilli
- 5-6 sweet potato leaves
- a small pinch of asafoetida
How to make Gujarati Dal Dhokli
- Wash the lentils and soak them in water for 20 minutes.
- Add lentils and one cup water in a pressure cooker.
- -Tie the peanuts in a muslin cloth and then put it in a pressure cooker. You can keep the peanut pods in a steel bowl.
- – Cover it and let it cook till 6-7 whistles.
- – After this, add wheat flour, all the spices in a bowl, sprinkle some oil, and knead the dough.
- Keep the dough aside for 15 minutes.
- Make dough balls and roll them into rotis. Then cut them into small pieces.
- – Now open the pressure cooker and take out the peanuts. Keep the peanuts aside.
- Add 2 cups of water to the lentils and mix.
- – Now add chili powder, turmeric powder, salt, ginger paste, green chilies, tomatoes.
- Add jaggery, mix and let it cook on low flame.
- Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds, bay leaves, cinnamon, cloves in a pan.
- – Add peanuts and lemon juice to it.
- – Boil the lentils once again and add the roti pieces (dhokli) to it. Let it cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Apply some ghee on the Dal Dhokli and serve.
