People's problems should be solved within stipulated time: Mohan Lal

Jammu, 30 October (HIST). Newly elected Akhnoor MLA Mohan Lal chaired an introductory meeting with sub-divisional and sectoral officials of the Akhnoor administration. SDM Akhnoor Subhankar Pathak (IAS), Tehsildar Akhnoor Naresh Kumar, Tehsildar Jodiyan Bansi Lal, Tehsildar Maira Mandrian Afsha Afrin along with executive engineers and other officers of key departments like PWD, Irrigation, Flood Control, and PDD were also present in the meeting. .

SDM Subhankar Pathak (IAS) presented a detailed account of the development status in the area, highlighting the progress of development and welfare initiatives being taken through government schemes. He said that after the recently concluded assembly elections, the remaining projects are being completed rapidly.

The meeting mainly reviewed the status of projects funded under the District Capex budget, including grants from District Development Councils (DDCs), Block Development Councils (BDCs), and Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs). Officials from various departments like Public Health Engineering (PHE), Public Works Department (PWD), Rural Development Department (RDD), Irrigation, Flood Control, Forest, Urban Development, Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Social Welfare, ICDS, and Health Department. Gave information about the ongoing initiatives.

MLA Mohan Lal stressed the need to address people's problems with sensitivity and ensure that the benefits of welfare schemes reach the most vulnerable sections. He directed the officials to provide timely public services under the Public Service Guarantee Act (PSGA). “Public service is our top priority, and we must ensure that people do not face any kind of trouble,” he said. He directed the Executive Engineer of Flood Control Department to prepare a comprehensive plan for channelization of Chenab River and asked SDM Akhnoor to expeditiously resolve the issue of defense land compensation related to farmers.

Focusing on the issue of cleanliness, Mohan Lal expressed concern over the sanitary condition of public toilets in Akhnoor city. He directed the Municipal Committee (MC) Akhnoor to maintain cleanliness of all public facilities and keep the city roads clean. Further, he motivated all the departments to work on time and ensure speedy disposal of public complaints. “I will personally monitor each department so that transparency and accountability is maintained,” he said.
