People will be able to get rooftop solar installed at home in the capital, Chief Minister launches Delhi Solar Portal

New Delhi, 20 November (HS). Delhi Chief Minister Atishi launched the Delhi Solar Portal on Wednesday. Through this, people will now be able to avail the benefits of Delhi Solar Policy and the bill of consumers who consume more than 400 units of electricity will also be zero. Delhi Solar Portal is a single window solution on which all the information for installing solar panels is available. From installing solar panels to getting subsidy from the government, people will be able to get all the facilities from the portal through one click sitting at home.

On the occasion of portal launch, Atishi said that today we are launching Delhi Solar Portal. Sharing the URL of the portal http://solar.delhi.gov.in, he said that if any person living in Delhi wants to install solar panels on the roof of his house, then Delhi Solar Portal is a single window solution for him. All the information necessary for installing solar panels will be available here. He said that people can visit this portal to get information about Delhi Solar Policy, benefits of installing rooftop solar panels, how people can avail subsidy, vendors empaneled on the portal and the cost of installing panels. Will be able to get solar panels installed sitting at home. Apart from this, people will also be able to apply for net metering and subsidy from the government through the portal without visiting any office. Atishi further said that through the solar calculator available on the portal, people will be able to know how much solar energy can be produced from their rooftop using the data of their roof size. For that, how many kilowatt panels will have to be installed and how much will it cost to install the panels.

He said that the Delhi Government had launched the Delhi Solar Policy on March 14, 2024. Through this solar policy, the Delhi government aims to meet 25 percent of the energy consumption in Delhi by solar energy by 2027. In this direction, the power companies of Delhi will enter into power purchase agreements for 3750 MW solar power in the coming three years. Also, 750 MW electricity will be produced through rooftop solar on the roofs of homes and offices in Delhi. For this, Delhi government has already started a big step. Under which rooftop solar will be installed on the roofs of every building of Delhi Government.

Atishi said that in Delhi, people get up to 200 units of free electricity and subsidy up to 400 units. People usually have a question that what about those who use more than 400 units of electricity? Delhi Solar Policy is the answer to all their questions. Through this policy, people can get zero electricity bill even if they consume more than 400 units of electricity.

Consumers will also be able to apply for net metering and subsidy through the portal.

Net Metering- If a person consumes 400 units of electricity and produces 300 units out of it from the solar panel installed on his rooftop, then he will have to pay the bill of only 100 units to the electricity company. Through the portal, consumers installing rooftop solar panels from home will also be able to apply for net metering. Also, people can apply for subsidy from the government through the solar portal itself and they will not have to visit any government office.

Application Process:

1. Registration: Consumers register on Delhi Solar Portal and apply for net metering, subsidy and GBI (Generation Based Incentive).

2. Process: The portal works closely with the relevant departments to make the application easy and fast.

3. Installation: Once approved, consumers can get solar panels installed from empaneled vendors.

Incentive Distribution:

: After solar panels are installed, the GBI money gets adjusted in the electricity bill.

:If GBI is higher, it is directly credited to the consumer’s bank account within 7 days of billing.

:Subsidy is applicable on the first electricity bill after the rooftop solar system is commissioned.
