Congress on PM Modi’s Kuwait visit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for Kuwait on Saturday on a two-day visit to strengthen ties across a range of sectors including defense and trade. This is the first visit of the Indian Prime Minister to Kuwait after 43 years. Now Congress has targeted PM Modi and said that the Prime Minister, who is often on foreign tours, has gone to Kuwait after making the people of violence-hit Manipur wait for him.
Congress’s sarcasm
Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh wrote on the social media platform ‘X’ that, ‘The people of Manipur are waiting, this is their fate because PM Modi is refusing to fix any date. Prime Minister Modi, who is often on foreign tours, left for Kuwait. Congress has many times asked PM Modi to visit Manipur. The party says this will help in restoring peace and normalcy in the conflict-torn state.
More than 220 people have died so far in Manipur violence
On May 3 last year, violence had erupted in Manipur during a tribal unity march in the hill districts of the state against the demand for Scheduled Tribe status of the majority Metai community. Since then, more than 220 people from the Metai and Kuki communities and security personnel have lost their lives in the violence.

In a statement before leaving for the visit, PM Modi said that the meeting with the top leadership of Kuwait will provide an opportunity to outline the future partnership between India and Kuwait. PM Modi has visited Kuwait at the invitation of Kuwait’s Emir Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. Modi said, I am looking forward to my meeting with the Amir, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Kuwait. “I look forward to meeting the Indian tourist in Kuwait, who has made a significant contribution to strengthening the bonds of friendship between the two countries.”
