People of Indian origin living in Mauritius will now get IOC card

President of India Draupadi Murmu approved a special provision for issuing Overseas Citizenship of India (OIC) cards to seventh generation people of Indian origin in Mauritius. This step has been taken to reconnect the Mauritius citizens of Indian origin with their ancestral land. President Murmu made this announcement. The Government of India will support the Government of Mauritius in redeveloping the sacred Ganga pond complex as a religious, cultural and tourism centre. He said that this decision shows respect for common cultural values.

Payment through UPI, RuPay card also started

The President said that in the last few weeks, our Prime Ministers have launched payment systems through UPI and RuPay cards in India and Mauritius. President Murmu inaugurated six community projects including an airstrip and a jetty. A new initiative was announced to supply high quality generic medicines.

Honorary Doctorate Degree awarded to President Murmu

The University of Mauritius has conferred an honorary doctorate on President Draupadi Murmu. The President was conferred the degree of Doctorate of Civil Law by the university on Tuesday.
