Kullu, 26 April (Hindustan Reporter). A three-day Basant Utsav (Peepal Fair) will be celebrated from 28th to 30th April at Kullu headquarters Dhalpur. During this period, while there will be cultural programs at Lal Chand Prarthi Kala Kendra, there will also be business worth crores of rupees.
Municipal Council Executive Officer Anubhav Sharma said that this year complete transparency has been maintained in plot allotment as per the instructions of the State High Court. Spring Queen will be the main attraction, auditions for which are underway.
Sharma said that Thakur Das Rathi will be the star artist in the first cultural evening, Gopal Sharma will be the star artist in the second cultural evening and Ramesh Thakur will be the star artist in the third and final cultural evening.
The executive officer said that this time the revenue has increased significantly since last time. Last year it was sold in the street market for Rs 2 lakh 70 thousand whereas this year it was sold for Rs 12 lakh 39 thousand. Similarly, in the shoe market it was sold for Rs 2 lakh 45 thousand whereas this year it was sold for Rs 9 lakh 67 thousand 600.
Sharma said that similarly, good revenue has been received from all the markets including Dome, Jhula, Handloom. So far, revenue of about Rs 85 lakh has been received and many plots are yet to be sold.
He said that there will be 18 participants in the Spring Queen Contest. Spring Queen will be given Rs 35 thousand, first runner up will be given Rs 25 thousand and second runner up will be given Rs 15 thousand.
