PE investments in real estate sector reach three-year high

Mumbai: Private equity (PE) investment in the real estate sector in the country rose to a three-year high of $2.50 billion in the June quarter of the current financial year. PE investment has seen a twenty percent increase in this period of the current year as compared to the June quarter of last year. PE investment in the real estate sector was $2.10 billion in the June quarter of last year.

This number was $99.51 million in the March quarter of 2024. In such a situation, a report says that there has been an increase of 154 percent in investment in the June quarter as compared to the March quarter.

Of the total investment, $1.50 billion has been in the industrial and warehousing segment, accounting for 61 per cent of total real estate investment. Foreign investors have been very attractive to this segment. The report expects investor confidence in the industrial and warehousing sectors to remain intact throughout the current year.

The residential segment ranked second with $54.35 million while investment volume in the office segment remained weak at $32.90 million.
