Palamu, July 27 (HS). Public distribution system shopkeepers of Nawa Bazar block area of the district have not been given food grains from Pandava godown after getting their thumb impressions three months ago. Protest was registered on Saturday when thumb impression ration of April, May, June was not delivered to the shops by DSD. Public distribution system shopkeepers held a block level meeting under the chairmanship of Manoj Prasad in Kanda Panchayat Secretariat on Saturday and expressed their displeasure.
JVP shopkeepers said that due to not getting ration on time from Pandava godown, there is constant tussle between vendors and card holders. Assistant godown manager cum block supply officer Prabhu Ram was in charge earlier. During his tenure, ration did not reach the shop and pressure was also put on public distribution system shopkeepers to make all ration card holders' thumb impression online in the e-POS machine. Ration will be given when the food grain arrives in the godown. However, due to not getting allocation, 11 dealers did not issue slips in the month of June. Dealers are facing a lot of embarrassment due to not giving ration and only thumb impression being taken.
In such a situation, the public distribution system shopkeepers have not yet received their thumb-marked ration for one month, two months and three months, due to which the vendors are fed up. The vendors demanded that the warehouse of Nawa Bazar block be shifted to Nawa Bazar soon and ration delivery be ensured on time, so that there is no conflict between the public distribution system shopkeepers and the ration card holders and the card holders can get ration from time to time.
