Party founder Sharad Pawar's daughter Supriya Sule and Ajit Pawar's wife Sunetra Pawar are face to face on this seat. Baramati area of ​​Pune has developed significantly in the last few years in terms of agriculture, industry and commerce. This area has been the stronghold of the Pawar family for decades and the political narratives of the Pawar family have also taken shape in this area. Not only this, the Pawar family has also played an important role in the development of Baramati. It is noteworthy that Sharad Pawar had won elections on this seat for the first time in 1960. After that Sharad Pawar has established his strong dominance on this seat.

It is noteworthy that NCP has divided into two factions under the leadership of Sharad Pawar and his nephew Ajit Pawar and due to this a family war has broken out in Baramati. Sharad Pawar's group has fielded 54-year-old Supriya, while Ajit Pawar's group has fielded 60-year-old Sunetra Pawar against him. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Supriya defeated BJP candidate Kanchan Kul on this seat by a margin of more than 1.55 lakh votes.

Sunetra Pawar also comes from a political family

Sunetra Pawar's background is also from a political family. Sunetra belongs to a politically active family from Marathwada. She is the sister of former Maharashtra minister Padmasingh Patil. Padmasingh was initially a member of the Congress but later joined Sharad Pawar's NCP in 1999. Sunetra Pawar is the second member of the Ajit Pawar family to contest the Lok Sabha elections.
