Ludhiana: With the objective of 'Save natural resources, bring prosperity for all', PAU's two-day Kisan Mela concluded on Saturday. On the second and last day also, farmers gained important information from PAU scientists and purchased seeds as well as other items.

On this occasion, PAU Vice Chancellor Dr. Satbir Singh Gosal said that today it has become very important to save water and environment. He said that the declining water level and decreasing fertility are a matter of concern. Appealing to the farmers not to burn stubble, he said that stubble also contains 33 percent such elements whose importance cannot be denied. To save the environment, Dr. Gosal talked about planting as many plants as possible. He also gave information about the surface seed machine. He thanked the farmers for reaching the fair in large numbers, who watched the entire fair with 10 kg plants in their hands. The large number of vehicles captured in the camera is proof that lakhs of farmers participated in the fair, which shows the credibility of the farmers towards PAU. In accordance with the current demand, the university has tried to convey new information to the farmers through social media. Therefore, farmers need to connect with PAU Facebook Live, digital newspaper Agri Sandesh and WhatsApp group so that every relevant information of scientific agriculture can reach them on time.

Dr. Ghoshal talked about reducing agricultural expenses to increase agricultural income and making the future of Punjab bright by connecting the new generation with agriculture and agricultural education and wished for better yield of saffron crops. Addressing the farmers, Chairman of Kisan Aayog Dr. Sukhpal Singh said that the world knows very well that the only university in the world is PAU in Ludhiana from where the farmers of Punjab have acquired important information and have created their own identity. Dr. Sukhpal also said that if the farmers of Punjab had got the right MSP, then perhaps they would never have drowned in debt. He also mentioned the Swaminathan report.

On this occasion, special guest and PAU alumnus Ram Chand and several senior PAU officials also shared their views with the farmers. On the last day of Kisan Mela, competitions of agricultural products were held and the winners were felicitated by Vice Chancellor Dr. Satbir Singh Gosal, Chairman of Kisan Aayog Dr. Sukhpal Singh, guests and other senior officials of the organization by giving them prizes. The stage was conducted by Additional Director Communication Dr. Tejinder Singh Riyad. On this occasion, the singing duo Harbans Rasila and Raj Gulzar entertained the farmers through various songs.
