Chandigarh/Mansa: During the anti-corruption drive in the state, Punjab Vigilance Bureau today arrested Mall Patwari Dhani Chand red-handed while demanding bribe and accepting a bribe of Rs 500.
Giving information in this regard, the official spokesperson of the State Vigilance Bureau said that this employee has been arrested on the basis of the complaint of Nishan Singh, resident of village Bhai Desa of Mansa district. The complainant approached the Vigilance Bureau and alleged that the said accused had demanded a bribe of Rs 1500 in exchange for amendment in the revenue records of his land and had taken Rs 1000 on the spot and now he was demanding the remaining amount of bribe. He further said that after preliminary investigation of this complaint, the Vigilance Bureau team laid a trap and arrested the accused Patwari in the presence of two government witnesses while taking Rs 500 as second installment of bribe from the complainant. In this regard, a case has been registered against the said accused under the Anti-Corruption Act at Vigilance Bureau Police Station Bathinda Range. He said that he will be produced in the court tomorrow and further investigation into the case is underway.
