These days, the excitement regarding the Legislative Council (MLC) elections is at its peak in the political circles of Bihar. Meanwhile, a big and sensational news is coming out from Patna district, where the troubles of Mokama’s powerful MLA Anant Singh, who is always in the headlines due to his statements and political influence, have once again increased a lot. Patna Police Administration, adopting a strict stance, has swiftly registered three separate FIRs against MLA Anant Singh. The special thing is that in all these cases, not only Anant Singh, but along with him, Jan Suraj supported MLC candidate Dr. Anuj Singh and some of his other close associates are also caught in legal trouble. This strict action has been taken for ignoring the rules and disobeying administrative orders during the election campaign, which has created a huge disturbance in the local politics of the state.
According to the information received, the rules were seriously ignored during the ongoing election campaign under Patna Graduates Constituency. Police sources say that the permission taken from the administration for the road shows and public relations campaigns carried out in Mokama and Barh areas was not followed as per the prescribed conditions. The permission letter mentioned use of limited vehicles and fixed route, but the rules on the ground were ignored. Complaints were received about flood and use of large number of vehicles and JCB machines during the procession taken out in Mokama area. The district administration has taken these cases of violation of administrative events and election code of conduct very seriously.
This legal action has been taken on the basis of the statements of senior officials of Patna District Police Administration and local police station in-charge. According to official information received from the police, a total of three cases have been registered, out of which two cases have been registered in Barh police station area alone and one case has been registered under Mokama police station area. These cases have been registered on the basis of written statements and administrative reports of local police officers and Circle Officers (CO). In these FIRs, mainly serious sections like violation of election code of conduct, ignoring the rules of public meeting and road show and endangering law and order have been imposed. The police administration has made it clear that no person will be given freedom to break the law during the election process.
Political analysts believe that this entire incident is related to the recent political incident in which MLA Anant Singh has raised the alarm of rebellion by going against the official candidate of his own party (JDU). While the ruling party has expressed confidence in its old leader on the Patna Graduate MLC seat, the strong MLA Anant Singh has openly come out in favor of Jan Suraj supported candidate Dr. Anuj Singh and is continuously doing public relations. When the standards set by the administration were ignored during the yatras and demonstrations in support of Anuj Singh, the police immediately took action without any pressure and named both the leaders in these cases.
After the incident, senior police officers of Patna have given a clear message that the first priority of the district administration is to follow the guidelines of the Election Commission and law and order. Be it a public representative or a candidate of any party, if anyone violates the election rules, the strictest action will be taken against him as per the law. On one hand, due to the registration of these cases, the problems of MLA Anant Singh and candidate Anuj Singh seem to be increasing on the legal front, while on the other hand, after this high-profile action, the temperature in Bihar politics has increased further. In the coming days, it will be very interesting to see what further steps the Election Commission and the police administration take in this matter.
