Patna, 27 July (HS). Patna High Court on Saturday expressed displeasure over the working style of the police and said that the police describes the case of seizing two liters of liquor as if it has arrested a notorious person. A single bench of Justice Satyavrat Verma made this remark while expressing displeasure over the working style of the police which failed to trace a minor girl who went missing from Bhojpur district 11 months ago. Justice Satyavrat Verma, while hearing the anticipatory bail plea of Siyaram Paswan, reprimanded the SP of Bhojpur present in the court.
Justice Satyavrat Verma reprimanded the Bhojpur SP during the hearing and said that the criminals of mobile and chain snatching are becoming uncontrolled. By confiscating one and a half to two liters of liquor, the police shows as if they have caught a notorious criminal. The father of the minor girl who has been missing since November 2023 has made the son of petitioner Siyaram an accused in the kidnapping case. The court asked the SP of Bhojpur what steps were taken to recover the girl. The SP could not give a satisfactory answer. Because, he was transferred to Bhojpur only last month. The SP told that he has got some clues.
Justice Verma said that this concrete step was taken after the arrival of the new SP, what was the police doing before that? The court made a harsh comment and asked how will police officers with such efficiency control crime! The court said that the inspector and constable only show their efficiency in catching liquor. Bhojpur SP has assured the court that the kidnapped girl will be recovered within a month. He said that if needed, the SHO and the investigator who have shown laxity in this case will also be suspended. The court instructed that if the kidnapped girl is not recovered and presented in the magistrate's court by 26 August, then on the next date of hearing, all the concerned police personnel including Bhojpur SP will have to be present in the High Court.
