Patna High Court changed the death sentence of the culprits of bomb blast in PM Modi's public meeting to 30 years imprisonment – News India Live | News India

Patna, September 11 (HS). Patna High Court on Wednesday commuted the death sentence of the culprits of the serial bomb blasts at the Gandhi Maidan rally of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to 30 years imprisonment. Also, the punishment of those who were sentenced to life imprisonment has been maintained.

Justice Ashutosh Kumar's division bench had reserved the decision after completing the hearing on this case, which was pronounced today. The High Court has changed the death sentence of Imtiaz Alam, Haider Ali, Numan Ansari and Mujibulla Ansari. The Gandhi Maidan serial blast case is of October 27, 2013. On that day Narendra Modi had come to address a public meeting in Patna. That's when the serial blasts took place. An FIR was registered in Patna's Gandhi Maidan police station regarding this. After this, the NIA took over the case on October 31, 2013.

Nine people including Haider Ali, Numan Ansari, Majibullah, Umar Siddiqui, Firoz Aslam, Imtiaz Alam were sentenced in this case. Four of the convicts were sentenced to death. However, now the Patna High Court has sentenced all four to life imprisonment in this case. NIA Special Judge Gurvinder Singh Malhotra had sentenced four convicts Haider Ali, Imtiaz Ansari, Mujibullah Ansari and Numan Ansari to death in this case.

It is noteworthy that Narendra Modi was present on the stage during the serial bomb blasts at BJP's Hunkar rally in Gandhi Maidan. He was the Chief Minister of Gujarat at that time. The NIA court had sentenced all these convicts in 2021, in which four were sentenced to death along with a monetary fine. In this case, the court had imposed a monetary fine of Rs 80,000 on Imtiaz Ansari and Rs 90,000 on Haider Ali, Mujibulla Ansari and Numan Ansari.
